Don’t Miss Your Final Chance to Remove Bats in 2025

Sep 22, 2025

Fall is here, and with it comes your last opportunity of the year to get bats out of your home. At Fur Busters Wildlife Removal, we want Illinois homeowners to know that the state’s bat removal season is closing soon—and if you don’t act now, you may be stuck with bats until spring.

The Bat Removal Window Ends October 30

According to Illinois law, humane bat exclusion is only allowed during two periods each year: March 15–May 15 and August 5–October 30. These dates protect young bats during the summer when they can’t fly yet.

That means once October 30 passes, removal won’t be legal again until March 15. If bats are in your attic or walls, you’ll be living alongside them all winter long.

Why Fall Is the Time to Act

  • Winter roosting – Bats often settle in for the cold months, making your attic their seasonal home.
  • Health hazards – Guano (droppings) can spread disease and create dangerous mold if left unchecked.
  • Home damage – Insulation and wood can deteriorate from guano buildup over the winter.
  • Bigger problems in spring – By March, colonies may be larger, making removal and cleanup more costly.

Signs You May Have Bats Now

  • Rustling or squeaking noises in the attic at night
  • Droppings or staining near vents, chimneys, or siding
  • Strong ammonia-like odors indoors
  • Evening bat activity near your roofline

Even small gaps in your siding or soffits can give bats easy entry.

Call Fur Busters Before October 30

We use humane, exclusion-based methods that follow Illinois law and protect both your home and these important animals. But we can only do removals through October 30. After that, we’ll have to wait until spring.

Don’t wait out the winter with bats overhead—call Fur Busters Wildlife Removal today to schedule your inspection and removal before time runs out.
